ASP .NET Programming and PHP programming have so many supporters all over the world. Any of these programs can be used to develop high quality websites; however, they do have a lot of differences which include the price, security and platform independence. Both of them however can be used to come up with database oriented websites.

The term ASP stands for Active Server Pages and it is effective on Microsoft products. It can only be used with Internet Information Server (IIS), which typically runs on the servers of Microsoft.

PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. It is platform independent and it can be connected to different types of databases. It is derived from many different programming languages and can run on Linux, UNIX, Solaris and Windows. Hence, it is considered as the more practical choice between the two programs.

Speaking of ASP .NET Programming, you will still need to purchase the MS-SQL package which will allow you to install IIS to a Window server platform, to make the program run. You can also make it run on Linux; however, to enable it to run on such program, you will need to install the ASP- Apache first on its server. On the other hand, you can make PHP programming run with the absence of expenditure. To make it short, using ASP .Net tends to be more expensive comparing to PHP. This is the reason why majority of webmasters and web designers choose this option more.

Using PHP is simpler and it won’t put much pressure on the person who is developing the website. The codes are also not difficult to understand. Moreover, its codes run faster compared to ASP. These codes are generally based on C++ which is preferred by the majority of programmers all throughout the world.

Most of the extra tools that you will need for PHP programming are free and you can get them online. It also comes with built in attributes such as encryption methods, ftp and web page emailing. These features are not readily available in an ASP .NET program although they can be obtained by making a purchase.

The coding level of PHP Programming is as protected as the ASP’s, although with ASP, the height of protection is higher. An organization which requires more security would go for ASP .NET.

At the end of it, you will realize that both programs have their own shares of advantages and disadvantages. PHP is a good choice for small businesses but bigger ones that need higher level of security should go for ASP.
